Gareth joined the Charades team 15 years ago and has seen the company grow from strength to strength under the passion of his good friend Betty. A graduate of Fine Art, Gareth is also a practising artist who works in video and installation. Alongside working with Charades Gareth exhibits in both solo and group shows across the country. Gareth brings his keen artistic eye for detail to Charades ensuring every wardrobe that leaves us has been carefully chosen for its appropriate period, style, cut and overall colour scheme. He likes to think he fusses about getting things just right so you don't have to.

Gareth also heads the admin department of Charades. Gareth is the first port of call for booking orders over the telephone and email, any questions regarding contracts and wardrobe requirements, organising meetings, and arranging delivery and collection times and dates with the client.  

Liz  BA (Hons) Costume with Textiles    website

 

With a degree in Costume with Textiles under her belt, Liz joined the Charades team in 2011 and hasn't looked back since. 

At Charades, Liz has enjoyed the challenge of working on a huge variety of productions. Here she has been able to develop her skills in all aspects of costuming. Passionate about all forms of the arts, Liz spends her spare time illustrating and sewing, selling her work at craft fairs.

Reggie  BA (Hons) Costume Design and Making website

 

Reggie is the newest addition to Charades, joining the others after completing his degree at Nottingham Trent University. At Charades he often assists the other members of the team in various aspects of costuming and constructing the shows. Reggie has a keen interest in tailoring, an area which he focused on for his final collection at University. Reggie has been involved in local theatre groups from a young age and has a keen interest in different aspects of the arts.

 

Laundry Department

Kerry 

 

Kerry joined the Charades team over 10 years ago. At Charades, cleanliness is one of our top priorities, and Kerry works hard to ensure that all our garments are cleaned, laundered, dry-cleaned and pressed both when the wardrobe returns to us after a show and before they leave us ready for another production.

 

 

 

Gilly

 

Gilly is a part time general assistant at Charades. Her duties include; assisting in the preparation of costumes, and general day-to-day tasks necessary in a busy work place.

 

 

George

 

George has been a part time voluntary assistant at Charades for over 2 years. His duties include; helping with the preparation of costumes, laundry and general duties which help with the day-to-day smooth running of Charades.

 

 

Director  &  Founder

Betty  BA(Hons)

 

Having been interested in the design and construction of clothes from an early age and on joining a theatrical society in the early 1980s Betty decided to channel her skills and interest into stage costumes. Through Betty's hard work, Charades has grown over the last 30 years and now, at our new spacious premises at Bold Business Centre, costumes over 100 productions a year country wide.

Betty oversees the general running of the business and brings her experience and expertise to the cutting table as she leads both our design and production teams. Betty lives and breathes theatre, directing shows and running drama groups in her spare time.
